Beginner Crochet Workshop
February 15, 2024 @ 5:00PM — 7:00PM Central Time (US & Canada)
Starkville Area Arts Council: 122 E Main St Starkville, MS 39759 Get Directions
Join us for our first Beginner Crochet workshop with Taylor Green at SAAC on Thursday, February 15 from 5-7 pm. This event is $10 per person to attend and is limited to 15 participants.
In this workshop, we'll learn how to make a "mug rug." A mug rug is a coaster made of yarn that is just big enough for your drink. We'll provide the yarn and crochet hooks, so there's no need to bring anything from home! After the workshop, you can take home your finished project, the hook, and any leftover yarn so you can continue to learn how to crochet!
This workshop is geared toward beginners of any age or gender, so come out for a fun, creative late Valentine's night and learn something new!
About Your Instructor: Taylor Green
"I'm a PhD candidate at MSU in Computational Biology and really enjoy relating the things I make to the research I do. Fiber arts have been part of my life for a long time. I learned to cross stitch as a Junior Girl scout (~10) and have been practicing that and embroidery on and off since then (20 years!). My grandma taught me to crochet as a young kid, but I didn't pick up crochet as a serious hobby and expressive outlet until last year, when a series of significant losses left me in need of healthy coping skills.
I've been accepted into a couple of shows, specifically the CDAF and the SAAC Winter Showcase (and submitted to Natural Mississippi and will submit to Southern Gothic). I'm thrilled that my submission to the CDAF sold and is being loved and worn by its new owner!"
